Pilates is the ideal way to improve posture, flexibility and muscle balance at any age and any fitness level. Everyone is doing it from dancers to footballer and the benefits are as much mental as they are physical. Essentially it is an exercise style that involves training your muscles to improve posture and alignment. When our muscles are weak they make compensations for each other which lead to instability and injury. By focusing on and building your core strengths, you enhance the smaller muscles in your body so they are better able to support the larger ligaments, tendons and joints. Clinical Pilates in particular has proven to be an effective ways of rehabilitation for clients suffering from chronic pain and recurrent injuries to neck, shoulder, upper back, lower back, hip and knee. For pre and post natal clients, Pilates helps improve general health and strengthen muscle groups affected by pregnancy. Osteopathy works on your muscles, joints and nervous system, combining techniques such as massage, joint manipulation, postural alignment, stretching and exercise prescription. While very effective in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal problems (e.g. sciatica, low back pain, and neck pain), osteopathy can also help with problems as diverse as asthma, migraine, digestive problems and menstrual pain as well as many of the problems experienced during and after pregnancy.

Premier Sports and Spinal Medicine has a team of experienced practitioners who have had additional experience and training in the field of persistent (chronic) pain management. We work together collectively to address the aspects that are contributing to your pain. We use an integrated whole person approach based on the latest research in pain medicine and neurophysiology. Our aim is to treat the underlying cause of pain not just the symptoms.

The program starts with a pre-program interview to determine if it is right for you. This is a free phone consultation. Once we have determined that this program will be beneficial, you will attend an initial consultation where we establish your condition and develop a treatment plan. At your second consultation you will receive targeted manual therapy with safe and effective exercises and recommendations for how you can best care for yourself between visits. You then move into your personalised program which often involves a combination of hands-on therapy, exercise therapy rehabilitation, education and reassurance. You will be guided and supported by your practitioner and a team of specialist practitioners throughout the program.
